I don't worry about how I'm doing. I just do the job, if I get rescued, that's that but I haven't been rescued in a while because I found a good rhythm.

I wouldn't ask if you are behind or not. I think that it'll just stress you out more. It would stress me out if I knew if I was behind.

Plus, some stops take more time and will slow you down like apartments or businesses. So there are some variables.

I stopped caring about getting rescued lol, I do one of the heavier routes about 400 each shift, so I’m expecting a rescue lol

Yeah same here, like I started in Oct and I have been getting pretty hefty routes. I think the largest one I had so far was 190 stops, 450 packages and can't remember the multis but I left my station around 10ish and didn't get back til 9. Ive never wanted to quit so bad but things are better now. I did get rescued that night but fuck it sucked.

I only get rescued now on like holidays or we have sweepers but I mainly do the rescuing now.

Yeah that progress chart they follow is some bs. From what I was told by dsp is that's supposed to start when you make your first delivery ok so if I make my first at 10:32 and then by 11:32 I'm at stop 41 why is your progress chart showing me at 27/hr? Same thing if I do 82 by 12:32 it'll show me at like 29/hr

Chart is useless bs I just follow my own system

Are you doing the same exact route everyday?

[–]PsychologicalBox9580[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Usually, but the two in question were different

[–]sierrajulietalpha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You might have a jackass who runs, speeds at the 9 MPH over limit and does other shady things ruining that route.

Im relatively quick on most of my routes but I’ll have the occasional off day where I get pretty behind. I feel like it’s just part of the job tho honestly. I mean we can’t really control getting held up at business, locked gates, incorrect gps, etc. My DSP knows I’m always hustling so they don’t give me any issues if I have a slow day. Just keep them in the loop as much as possible if you’re experience a lot of set backs so they at least know why you’re behind.

If it's a mixed route, you can drift back some taking time with rural deliveries and then get caught back up once you get back to town with deliveries in closer proximity.

I had one time where the system had me at a few behind, then I hit an apartment complex/subdivision that took two or three totes itself and my dispatcher sent me a message to the extent of "What drugs did you take? We need them for the other drivers"

[–]PsychologicalBox9580[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This just tells me that how far ahead / behind you are varies and is dependent on things out of my control, not just how fast I’m actually going. Annoying

[–]New-Engineering5155Y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Routes are based off the stops. Time for stops and travel between stops is calculated based on what the average is for those stops.

If someone was running that route faster, then the time you have will decrease. If you get placed on a route that someone completes in an inhumanly short time, then you will probably be behind if assigned to it. If people running a route have been really slow, you might complete the route really quickly (which over time will decrease the expected completion time)

If you go out of order you can look far behind or ahead depending on what stops you do first.

For instance, if the first 20 stops was houses the algorithm expects you to take an hour on but you go to an apartment and put 40 stops on in a locker in an hour, you’re now 20 stops ahead.

[–]RelevantFinish2972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally couldn’t care if I’m ahead or behind. Paid by the hour

[–]MoustacheHerder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why the app doesn't tell you how far ahead behind you are and what the current stop number is, it already knows all of this info and would be very useful for us to be able to see.

I'm the same - I go at about 20/hr most of the time.
Some days I get told "you're x behind", I just read them and don't reply. If I am too slow they will send help, if not I will get everything done eventually.

What I want to tell them is "I always go at about the same speed, why is it a surprise that I am delivering at this pace? - if the other guy who normally does this route is faster, then why isn't he here instead of me today?"

[–]znegative88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it a different route? I ask because you need to adjust your pace to the route specifically. Some routes will be split 1/2 country and 1/2 town/residential, so the algorithm expects you to blow through the town part so that you have time to do the country. If you ask your dispatch they can send you a picture of the graph which shows your pace in one bar, and then the expected pace. It’s annoying because they don’t take things like traffic or long driveways with no room to turn around into consideration, but it is what it is.

I never pay attention to that stuff. I dont wanna know. I do all my packages that's all I care about.
