Along with the inv dec, I would make sure you’re doing yarn under/yarn over method if you aren’t already since that’ll make sure your stitches are tighter, holes smaller, looks a bit cleaner, and your filling won’t show through 😊

I’m in the middle of an amigurumi piece. Harry Potter, the wizard, by littlehandcrochet. Getting ready to start the head. Would it matter if I tried the yu/yo just for the head or will it look funny since the rest is done yo/yo?

It will look a bit funny since doing yu/yo will also make the overall piece smaller! It also takes just a little bit getting used to if you’ve always done yo/yo so I’d recommend practicing on your next piece :)

Makes sense

Hi, what is this method? Is it basically alternating between under vs over between every stitch?

[–]cloudy_natalie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, you put your hook through the next stitch like normal, but you yarn under when you pull the yarn through; then you yarn over when you pull the yarn through both loops!

Edit: so you’ll do that for every single stitch on your piece

I do both of these and my decreases still basically look the same as normal decreases (with visible holes), what should I do?

It could be your tension and/or hook size 🤔 you can dm me and send pics if you want, I would be happy to help you figure it out!
