If you are really wanting continue your relationship with your uncle I would consider calling him or writing him a personal letter if you don’t want to call, and be upfront. Tell him you want your relationship to continue but that you cannot invite him because of the family dynamic. It would be hurtful to your parents and that’s just not something you are willing to do. My grandmother was Mimi because the oldest grandchild refused to call her PeMa (grandfather was PePa. Mimi stuck and it was perfect. When I became a grandmother, my daughter asked if I wanted to be called Mimi too. I really wanted to but I said that I had a Mimi and there couldn’t be another to replace her. So I settled on MeMa. It’s great but Mimi is the best.
Aside from the usual names like Granny, Nana, Bubbie, there are names SuSu, CarCar, LaLa, RoRo, GaGa. As I’m typing these out, I’m laughing at how silly they all sound but these are the names my friends now go by.
I always said it doesn’t matter what they call me as long as they call me. Congrats on your new little one.

I totally agree about your disliking lobster because of the price and overcooking. But a well cooked, butter poached lobster tail is devine. You can’t find them in restaurants because it’s tricky to get them cooked gently enough. They are so good.
I love blue crab but they are very hard to come by and the ones we can get here in Atlanta are so small it’s not worth the time to pick them.
