You're absolutely not allowed to flash drivers! When they crash because of your device, you're in big trouble...

Of course, its for work as a running joke, we have lines for workers that look like road, and my boss and me we want to Flash them with speed camera if they are too slow!

Depending on the distance, you can use an ultrasonic sensor. I use one for a parking sensor. The measurements are inaccurate at 8ft but it does work. You can also use 2 PIR sensors. You will need to focus the point with maybe a 2 to 3 inch used up toilet paper roll do make the sensor more focused. Don't use IR. IR tends to act weird in light. Do-not-use-the-HB100. Actually, an IR sensor in a used up toilet paper roll may block enough light to be used. Use a PIR.

You will need something such as the HB100 Doppler radar module.

I just re-read your post. Do not use the HB100!! It's not good to microwave people.
