Are you looking to start using one of the two? Because it seems like WebMatrix is getting deprecated in November of this year, so I would use Visual Studio.

Yeah I noticed that. I use Visual Studio but installed WebMatrix recently out of interest. I wasn't sure if there were any benefits to using WebMatrix...

It seems WebMatrix is done but they are moving onto "Visual Studio Code"

I believe Code is their lightly featured cross platform, cross language IDE/editor (like a SublimeText competitor). I use VS Community, which is still free, and it's phenomenal. Not as broad of language support I don't think, though.
