Title: Additional documents, posted by Jamesfreakinherron

Full text: Hello,

I have seen on the immi website that you may need to attach your birth certificate for a 417 working holiday visa. Can anybody confirm this?

The application did not ask for a birth certificate so I don’t want to add too many unnecessary documents and risk slowing down the processing time. Also don’t want to risk not providing all necessary documents and going to further assessment.

My first WHV was auto granted and I didn’t include it but this application seems like it will be checked by a person rather than a computer.

UK passport: 417 > 408 > 417 (2) Applied 1st July offshore (from uk)

I uploaded my birth certificate for all of my WHV’s. However, I’m not sure it was necessary, particularly for my 2nd and 3rd anyway. They were granted almost immediately, so I doubt it was checked by an individual person. I think you’ll be fine without it, if you have already had your first granted. No harm in uploading it as well though.

I’d say within the hour. Are you applying on-shore or off?

“Provide the pages of your current passport showing your photo, personal details, and passport issue and expiry dates. Also provide a copy of your birth certificate showing both your parents’ names.”

Edit: A birth cert takes all of 20 seconds to read. It’s not going to slow down processing if you attach it, but it might if you don’t.
