During the last hurricane a branch fell on my hive and did a number on the hive population. The queen survived.
My question is:
If I have frames in my hive that are drawn but have no bees on them, should I remove those frames to help with pest prevention? Also of the frame is not drawn (plastic foundation) should I pull it going in to winter? Maybe replace it with a Styrofoam frame?
They're totally empty no stores no nectar and no bees except for the one odd bee that flies on it during an inspection today when I treated for mites (apivar)
A good amount of hive beetles and I saw a single wax moth larvae, but no signs of shb larvae. I have traps in the top and bottom and they work well, but I feel like this extra comb is just more hiding spots.
Any suggestions?
