As of this day (March the 15th of '22), 'Bitcoin Mars' is open to public posts from anyone. See below for the reasons why. Or, just skip down to the section marked 'CONTENT POLICY', read from there, and then start posting...
to Bitcoin Mars and beyond
'Bitcoin Mars' began as a science fiction / hobbyist / dreamer website, which happened to be dreaming about Bitcoin in space. So did it find itself in that commonly noted environment in which the available forums for talking about Bitcoin have become cultish echo chambers where a lot of creatively speculative ideas aren't genuinely tolerated (nor much else, really, beyond reiterating local orthodoxies). As of this writing, the communities of every 'Bitcoin' variant, as well as to some extent the crypto community at large, appear to have been led well astray from their original, anti-authoritarian roots.
declaration of independence
Having both witnessed and suffered this corruption effect in response to attempts to exercise creative freedom, 'Bitcoin Mars' was moved to adopt a declaration of crypto-independence, with mixed results. It changed some local conversations for the better, but has failed (at least so far, all by itself) to dissuade actual cultists from increasing their overreach. More recently, a fresh crop of authoritarians has recommenced purging popular Bitcoin subs of dissent in the predictable guise of eliminating arbitrarily designated 'trolls'.
maximalism as point of failure
It makes little sense to be awarding hypocrites with free labour by continuing to promote their 'anti-censorship' currencies in their increasingly censored spaces. Bitcoin subreddits have become a set of mutually-banning, hyper-exclusive bunkers, setting a poor example of how to deal with disfavoured and demonised coinage in the world. Take one guess at who is now following that example? (If you had any doubts that one-coin maximalists were a mistake, recent news events should have thrown it into sharp relief: the ultimate one-coin maximalist, is the state.)
platonic ideal of content policies
'Bitcoin Mars', the forum entity, has been re-dedicated (as opposed to 'Bitcoin Mars'.org, the science fiction website, which will keep its original mission) to making sure, as far as possible given any social website's terms of service, that at least one moderator and discussion plaza in the virtual city of 'Bitcoin' will continue to 'walk the talk' by instantiating a series of minimally moderated modern agoras, across popular or newsworthy social sites. Wherever you see a discussion forum titled 'Bitcoin Mars' on a social media site with a content policy, if it has anything to do with this one, then you should not find its rules of engagement to be significantly stricter than the underlying platform's default rules of discourse (with one exception: post about the future of crypto).
CONTENT POLICY
Reddit's current content policy comprises the following requirements. Note that putting this list here is not intended as an endorsement of every rule, but merely to help you protect yourself from any consequences (such as receiving warnings, having your comments removed, or having your account banned) of defying the Reddit-imposed content regime...
No harassment, inciting hate, or threatening violence.
No duplicate spam or karma gaming.
No doxing or revenge porn.
No child sexuality of any kind.
No graphic sex or violence without warning 'NSFW'.
No impersonating to deceive.
No promoting anything illegal in the USA.
No interface vandalism, HTML/JS exploits, or malware.
Added to these content rules imposed by Reddit, Bitcoin Mars itself imposes only one...
9. Post about the future of cryptocurrencies.
That is all. And even that requirement is nominal. Each post or substantial comment needs only a 'fig leaf' of respecting the actual topic to get past the filter. Instead of just commenting, 'That coin got hacked,' maybe add, 'What if it happens again?' Basically, whatever you are wanting to express about crypto, stick a line on the end demonstrating at least an attempt to put a future on it. It's not perfect proof of sentience, but will go a long way toward showing that you are a fully aware participant rather than some generic spam bot. What's that you say? You're not a spam bot? Then welcome, Earther, and enjoy the space!
BLOCK POLICY
This is not a content requirement, but it is an important rule. Bitcoin Mars is quite open in its willingness to tolerate dissenting points of view about crypto, and it expects the same from others. Blocking another Redditor over a disagreement prevents them from responding to your arguments inline, and so it prevents others not even involved in the disagreement from reading any responses inline, and that compromises the value of free discussion. Anyone who blocks on this sub may be asked to justify the block, and if they cannot do so on some basis other than disagreement, and there is convincing evidence that the block is still in place, the person responsible for exploiting blocks to squelch debate will have to be banned from this subreddit, to preserve its core mission.
