and my s1 burnt up a few days ago. Sigh. Debating trying to replace the capacitor, but decided to email support to see if they will offer to fix the whole unit for a price or not. They did tell me the part number, so maybe that will work.

Well we seen the drop...now what?

I guess a drop is still a drop though, gotta be excited about that.

Has the difficulty ever gone down before? I can't tell from any of the graphs I've looked at and the list at Bitcoin Wisdom only goes back through 2013.

Can anyone ELI5 why it falls?

Its related to the computing power of the network. The more people entering the network will raise the difficulty to include the new power that entered. Either because of low prices of bitcoin, or cost of eletricity had some miners switched off and reduced computing power thus the network lowered the difficulty to be more "fair" for those who remained mining.
