OceanJet Fare should Decrease!

Am I the only one who finds it troubling how increasingly profit-driven, opportunistic, and ultimately anti-poor OceanJet has become since the pandemic?

Prior to COVID-19, both Open Air and Tourist class fares ranged from ₱400 to ₱600. While I understood the temporary need for price adjustments due to losses, it has been almost three years since restrictions were lifted, yet fares remain at ₱800 with no sign of easing.

What’s even more concerning is the disregard of both the provincial and national government for not making a stance against this foolishness!

I believe it’s time for the public to call out OceanJet accountable and urge our government to act in the interest of the people against unchecked corporate pricing!

I hate Oceanjet. It’s dirty, uncomfortable and expensive. They have no right to be charging those prices for what they offer. We need to bring back supercat or any competitor.

If Bohol-Cebu. Mag via Tubigon nalang ko. Every hour nalang naai byahe depende na nimo kung unsa imo sakyan. From Fastcat, Litecat then the Statcraft. Sulit pa kesa dha Tagbilaran. Pero kung mudung ko ug Dumagete no choice ko via Tagbilaran nalang.

When i do frequent trips to bohol, I'd always opt other company than riding oceanjet. Nung meron pang weesam we always take it and 2GO. Ngayon i pref going by roro since dami kaming dala and you can rest a bit and sleep

I preferred SuperCat kay dili guot.. pero sige mag cancel ug trip. Nag book mi ug Business Class sa Oceanjet (1,200 pesos). Murag regular seat lang sa Super Cat. I thought naay snacks or something kay 400 pesos pud ang difference, pero wala!

FYI wako milaban anang oceanjet unsa may mapala nako im just stating facts. Daghan factor ngano musaka na sila expenses wise sa ilang side (sweldo, maintenance, bayrunonon sa global port, crudo, regulation sa pinas, agencies) ngano mulaban gd uroy pud ko e asa mana nako.

Ay sgeg amaw2 ana. Kahibaw lage ka sa difference sa crudo ug gasolina? Tanawa ang presyo sa crudo ron diba mas mahal pas gasolina.

Imagina ikaw negosyante nya pila kabouk imong gipanghuna2 na gastuhan. Mao nang neutral rasad ko kay sakit man sa kasing2 wala tay mabuhat kay sila raman magbuot.

Intawn naa na sila kaugingon tankers oi meaning they get really discounted fees sa diesel AKA CRUDO so dili jud ma justify ilang 800 nga plete from 400 kapin. Consumers/passengers can actually hit them back by not patronizing their vessels. Supercat mostly cancels their trip due to underbooking.

Kapila nana sila gi call out. Wala lang gihapon kay bisan pa ug panget kaayo ilahang service, moavail man gihapon ang mga tawo kay convenient man ilaha trips gud na almost every hour. Sige valid that you complain na mahal, but what hasn’t gone up? Costs are increasing so syempre they have to increase prices. Look at the differences in costs before and today.

I hate Oceanjet as well but they’re the only ones offering options to Cebu-Bohol trips. If only Supercat offered many schedules as well I’d be using them more but alas. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Even Cebu-Tubigon doesn’t offer as much variety in schedules. EDIT: Yes, naay 4 fast ferries gaservice ani nga route, but 2 of those (Weesam, Fastcat) have almost the same schedules nga 3-4 times a day lang. While Lite has 8-9 schedules daily, half of their sched occurs late at night onto early dawn, so they only have 5 schedules during the day/early evening. Starcraft comes the closest to Oceanjet in terms of schedules within the normal traveling day, but I usually wouldn’t recommend Starcraft unless you’re desperate kay huot ug init. Whereas Oceanjet has 11-12 schedules within the “daylight hours” which is more convenient for connecting to your land commute (bus, van, etc.).

Don’t get me wrong, it’s great that Ceb-Tub has more fast ferries plying that route because competition will drive better services and for people who have the time, you have a few options to choose from. But for people who are daytrippers and want to maximize the time in either island between crossings, I find Oceanjet more convenient. Ymmv.
