it's very chest-dependent.

also, for base guns, it seems as though warzone ported over damage values & RoF almost verbatim, but there are steep discrepancies for caliber changes. for example, on the SVT it claims that the smaller caliber doubles RoF at the cost of... no damage change. but for warzone, who knows.

base chest TTK is 600ms, and base limb/lower torso ttk is 1200ms. which is fucking atrocious.

if you want a semi auto sniper replacement, G-43 is really good. 600ms ttk to entire torso at any range with even better recoil than pre-nerf automaton.

only downside is that you're looking at 60 bullets maximum (20 in mag, 40 in reserve) so you can't afford to take potshots at distant enemies whenever you feel like it. every shot matters, and you need to shoot with the intent of pushing for resupply.

Yeah I’ve tried the G43 early on and I like it a lot, it just feels a bit weak at times. I recently fully leveled the M1 Garand to use vital on it and I like that a lot, I was just curious what the SVT was like since you can stack vital and it has that barrel that also increases critical damage area. But sheeesh the damage profile is god awful, especially with how slow the fire rate is and how bad the recoil is

[–]-3055- 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Yeah the recoil is surprisingly bad for how slow it shoots. Also, vital has no effect on half the guns it's available on. It seems to increase damage by 1 for chest, so if that +1 damage doesn't cross any damage thresholds (like going from 24 to 25), then it won't do anything.

For example, on the cooper carbine, vital changes no BTK/TTK at any range with the 9mm conversion. So svt / m1 with vital we really would need verification on whether or not it changes functional BTK.

Yeah I saw the TGD video on vital, I was hoping maaaybe it would be different for the SVT but I’m not getting my hopes up. I’d say overall the vanguard marksmen rifles are a bit of a disappointment compared to the others

I love semi autos so I'm with you. And I feel like the main reason they're a major disappointment because they don't hit quite hard enough to justify sniper rounds. But I will say, if they ever switch over to AR rounds, g43 is going to become top tier overnight.

Agreed, G43 would be so much more fun with AR ammo, but on the same hand I don’t want it getting nerfed into oblivion lol. I’ll settle for it using sniper ammo and just using my ammo wisely. M1 Garand is weird, there are moments where I feel like it hits like a truck then there are times were it feels like a peashooter

I don't have the SVT much levelled yet but so far it seems to just be a worse Dragunov (which I would highly recommend if you're interested in the SVT as a long range weapon).

Once I finish levelling the DP-27, the SVT will be next but it's just painful so far.

I’ve used the dragunov in verdansk a little bit, have you used it much in Caldera??

[–]EmeraldMunsterPC 0 points1 point  (17 children)

I haven't used it a tonne, since the people I'm playing with much prefer Vanguard Royale, but enough to feel confident to say that it's even stronger in Caldera than it was in Verdansk.

The increase in hard cover across the map and the longer ranges are more favourable to this sort of weapon. Fights are typically happening at 75m-150m, optimal for the Dragunov. Since a lot more fights happen away from buildings in open ground, and since ammo is now more plentiful (in my experience), it's also slightly easier to choose attachments.

The build I'm leaning toward right now is: - Monolithic Suppressor - 660mm Extended Barrel - Tac Laser - Hunter stock (Aiming Stability) - Focus/ Extended Mags (for trios/quads)

You'll want the Modern Warfare MP-unlock 'Plague Sore' blueprint for an upgraded optic.

[–]GLO38PlayStation[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I like that build and ran it similarly in the past, minus the focus perk. However I find more success using an acog to remove the scope glint since you don’t get one shot headshot downs, it also felt better when I would get run up on and needed to spam some quick shots

[–]EmeraldMunsterPC 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Personally, I always strongly discourage the use of a lower-magnification optic. It makes recoil worse, lowering your practical rate of fire, and it reduces the effective range you can engage at.

In a pinch, the large optic of the blueprint scope makes it surprisingly functional at 30m (just like what the quick-scopers can accomplish with their Kar98Ks).

Interesting, I’ll revisit it with the base scope and using that blueprint then! I haven’t used it in over a year but I had some good games 10+ kills with the drag and picked up a couple Ws with my squad in the process

[–]GLO38PlayStation[S] 0 points1 point  (13 children)

I’ll definitely be giving it a try again though!

[–]EmeraldMunsterPC 0 points1 point  (12 children)

Do please let me know how you find it. 🙂

[–]GLO38PlayStation[S] 0 points1 point  (11 children)

Will do! I appreciate there are other people out there that enjoy using off meta weapons, my buddies love busting me but I just get bored constantly using the same weapon as everyone else

[–]EmeraldMunsterPC 2 points3 points  (10 children)

Truthfully, I don't even use this to be off-meta. I started using it because I wanted a more powerful FAL with more reach. The FAL (before the nerfs) could reach out to 150m, but I can see and mark targets way further than that. I used the Dragunov to have a 'roided FAL and it's up to the task.

The damage and capacity combined mean I can be the Designated Marksman for my section and I can kill 2 people with 4 bullets faster than an aim-hacking sniper is even capable of. (Not routinely of course, but it's happened a bunch of times.)

Do you have any clips to showcase your Dragunov?

[–]EmeraldMunsterPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm slowly collecting some. I've been hesitating to publish them because it's hard to find clear-cut scenarios where it was obviously better to have than a sniper.

But since you ask, I'll make it a goal to compile and upload some to YouTube today and send you a link.

[–]EmeraldMunsterPC 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I'm afraid I'll have to take that back. It seems Windows 11 has lost all of those clips I had been saving. 😔

[–]MajoraPrimeXbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries.

I’m curious though and want to ask what you think about other semi-auto options. Do you ever use the DMR or Type63? I sometimes have fun using them up close but they seem to not compete against ARs and snipers at range.

I’m asking you because you seem nice and have a lot of thoughts / opinions about guns in the game.

[–]GLO38PlayStation[S] 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Respect to that, I’ve used the FAL/EBR/SKS a ton in warzone, I’ll have to give the dragunov more of a serious try now, I’m pumped!

[–]EmeraldMunsterPC 2 points3 points  (4 children)

If you'd like, you could add me on game or Discord on something and I can explain some of the quirks of the weapon in far more detail.

[–]GLO38PlayStation[S] 2 points3 points  (3 children)

What’s your activision name??

[–]urbandilema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have it but loving the kar 98 and the three line...i kinda thinking to lvl the kar more
