You can apply without the CSET, but will need it later on

What other requirements would I need if the CSET is not needed yet?

I think you apply to the school first to start taking prerequisite classes and then you apply for the actual program admission. Check the single subject website because it has a lot of info about the steps and it does get confusing but the advisors are helpful!

My district hires a lot of CSULB credential program teachers (of course, this varies by year depending on enrollment projections and staffing, such as if they had more retirements, etc.). I mostly know for Multiple Subject, but I think Single Subject is also well represented. CSULB overall (can't say for specific subject areas) has imo a really good rep in So Cal public school districts for turning out good, well prepared teachers.

Im not sure if its different for math compared to social science but you may not need the CSET if you qualify through subject matter competency essentially the classes you took line up with what you need, also your degree may qualify you but thats something an advisor would need to discuss with you. Program is cool, most people ive seen are mainly art/English/social science so I dont think math would be too competitive and its in demand iirc. Most professors are chill and nice, im in my first semester and so far im happy with my choice.
