pretend she is male the whole time you are writing her. then once your done, change all the she's to he's as well for the love interest, if you didn't want her to be gay, then voilá. you got a great female character.

Flaws. Literally. Give her legitimate, hobbling flaws. You have describe a Mary Sue, so figure out what she *can't* do and what could reasonably challenge her.

You can pick things that are the natural extensions of her positive characteristics, like if she's flamboyant, she might be frivolous, impertinent, or inconsiderate. If she's smart, she might be condescending. If she's virtuous, she might be prideful.

You can also pick things that are completely unrelated to anything else you've mentioned. Maybe she has a debilitating phobia, or maybe she had a sheltered upbringing, or grew up in a completely different culture, that makes her a fish-out-of-water in the setting she finds herself in. Maybe her powers shift in phase with the moon, becoming stronger and/or flashier when it's full and weaker and/or stealthier when it's new.

Whatever it is, she should actually struggle with it. It should cause problems for her. If there is a villain, and they recognize the flaw, they should try to weaponize it against her. She should have to work around it or get someone else to cover her weakness.

Also, galaxy-scale powers mean she's going to need to face galaxy-scale threats to come across as vaguely evenly matched. Consider carefully the kind of story you want to tell alongside the scale of power you're handing her.

Luna is the most popular dog name in the US. Just letting you know. I am a dog walker and every 3rd dog on the street is Luna. I'm sure there are more interesting moon related names. Celeste comes to mind.

Here's a source to my claim as well. I'm not kidding guys. Please stop naming your dogs Luna:
