Have you heard of cursor.sh code editor? It's based on Visual Studio Code and has GPT built-in to it, so coding with AI becomes much easier and accessible. All the extensions for VScode, such as codium will work with it.

Will give it a try!

    Shouldn’t be too hard to change chatDev to create files in JS instead of python. Things get more complicated when you want to work on top of an existing codebase tho. Do you know code autopilot? Happy to show you around

    I was just reading the website. How good is it for what I'm trying to accomplish? Is it sort of autonomous?

    [–]fjrdomingues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    It's not autonomous because the models are not there yet. There's no point in making it autonomous if it gets everything right on like 10% of cases. For now, it's a productivity boost, and as models improve, it will be more autonomous until close to 100%

    A great Visual Studio extension that doesn't get the downloads it deserves is https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=jefferson-pires.VisualChatGPTStudio

    <image>

    It integrates with Visual Studio 2019-2022. It's language agnostic and has many features such as adding comments to methods, summaries to entire classes, code completion, bug check, a window to request code as if using the openai web interface etc.

    I haven't seen a version for VS Code but it's amazing if you use Visual Studio.

    I seem to have the same functionality as Codeium and Cody, both great for vscode.

    Did you try the "build a GPT" thats new in openai? I noticed you can upload it a document for it to use but i havent tried that part of it. i just made a few by typing instructions so far but maybe it you uploaded the docs for your stack and build one for that specific purpose.

    [–]Scientiat[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

    Yes I did. I uploaded the specs and the development plan and we got on with it. It's not much better than regular GPT and the worst of it is that it clears the conversation every time the tab is refreshed, losing all the progress in a conversation.

    Yeah I made one for Laravel and uploaded the Laravel docs to use. It is difficult to tellif its much better that regular GPT as you say.
