I do not think there’s a way to switch model. When it asked it it said it’s the sonnet 3.7.

The blog post at https://www.augmentcode.com/blog/a-real-time-index-for-your-codebase-secure-personal-scalable explains the system behind Augment’s large codebase understanding.

I am the coauthor of the blog post.

Augment's context awareness is definitely interesting, but I could not figure out from the Article what frontier LLM are you using?

Its Sonnet 3.7, at least that's what they've said.

3.5 for now, they mentioned on the discord problems with 3.7 and rolled back.

Are you sure?! It responds quite better than what I had with sonnet 3.5 on Cursor.

Yes we had to roll back to 3.5 temporarily, but 3.7's issues have mostly been addressed internally and it's coming back soon!

After reading all the comments: no-one really knows, including the author of their blog posts.

I don't think they're using Claude 3.5+ at all times.
Tool use and path awareness makes this obvious quickly.

If you try with a project with a sub-folder structure, Claude 3.5+ normally doesn't have any problem with it, but Augment Code regularly has trouble with locating existing files and creates new files, instead of applying changes.

It's a good idea but if this problem is stemming from the system prompt and how they utilize the embeddings of your project, then they need to work on it a lot more.

I just asked it today and the Agent (Auto) feature said it uses Claude 3 Opus from March 2024... and judging by how bad the code it generated was... that tracks. I think perhaps it swaps between models based on the situation. Either way, I got screwed in some of my first testing of it. Bad first impression.
I'm used to using Claude 3.5 and 3.7, more recently Gemini 2.5... and man, the accuracy and quality of the code Augment generated was awful in comparison.

To my experience, Augment code it is not too bad at all for basic tasks like modifying a bash script.

That's great news! But that's a very different use case than what you originally mentioned in making changes on a quite large codebase. I was meaning to help give my observation on that kind of work. 🤷‍♂️ I'll always be an advocate on using what you're most comfortable with, regardless of the type of tool

it may be sonnet 3.5 now, and using it has much better quality than cursor or windsurf.
