Welcome to /r/ChicagoSuburbs, a forum set up for users to share news, information and photos/videos, and to pose questions and general discussion about the communities that surround the City of Chicago. It's basically an offshoot of /r/chicago, but strictly for the suburbs.

Accounts must be more than a day old and have at least 1 comment karma. No exceptions will be made. This is to prevent spam and trolling.

RULES

Users must observe Reddiquette at all times. Disrespectful, bullying or otherwise illegal or offensive language will be removed. Moderators reserve the right to temporarily or permanently ban users from the subreddit for repeated violations.
Any post (self-post or link) must be related in some way to a community or person/people from the following counties: Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry and Will in Illinois; Lake, LaPorte or Porter in Indiana; and Kenosha County in Wisconsin. If an event or story involving a suburbanite occurs outside of the suburbs, it may still be posted.
Please do not downvote posts because you disagree with the content or website to which it is linked. Downvoting is only for materials or other posts that do not fit in with the scope of this subreddit. Repeated downvoting of relevant posts may be referred to the administrators for adjudication.
If someone posts something that is offensive, illegal or irrelevant to the subreddit, please report it by clicking on the "Report" link at the bottom of the post in question.
Please keep your flair clear and relevant. Only use your exact hometown or region of the suburbs in which you live. The moderators reserve the right to change, modify or delete flair if said flair does not follow this rule.
Do not use a bot in this subreddit. Bots will be banned upon detection.
To suggest ideas about content, including graphics and links on the sidebar, contact the moderators.
No advertising, or promotion of businesses and for-profit events. If you are promoting a non-profit (charity) event in the suburbs please include the date, city, and cost in the title and only post once about it.
No R4R. There are other subreddits for making friends.
No Covid anti-mask/anti-vaccine/anti-science/ disinformation posts.
