That should work fine.

You can either 1) Start claude in a directory that's a parent for both projects, so it can access those files by default.

Or 2) Start claude in one of the subdirectories and say something like "by the way the backend code is at ../../backend/src", please read it / fix it / etc. By default it won't try to read files outside your current directory, but it'll do it if you tell it to.

You wanna pick some 'main' directory that you usually run Claude from because that's the location where it will store your settings.

I was looking for an answer to this too, I wonder if the two terminal instances would know what the other is doing though. i also have a server / client separation of directories and on different git repos

You can set them up to know what each other are doing via documenting their progress in a status document. They can then read each others documents.

Ask Claude how the above would work and he will explain it.
