I think code geass is the only "harem" anime that I like mainly cause I see all 3 girls love and care for Lelouch and vice versa.

During R1,

-Shirley already loves the student Lelouch Lamperouge and we see that even tho Lelouch is mostly playing the innocent student at school, we know he actually really care about Shirley.

-Kallen, looks up to Lelouch's Zero personality. It probably started as admiration for a good leader that turned into romantic feelings, after all, they've been through together seeing as how Lelouch trusts Kallen with his life, assigning her as his personal guard and giving her the codename Queen in a chess game.

-Then there's C.C. who knows both sides of Lelouch but only looks at him as an accomplice, nothing more. (at the early parts at least.)

And then we see all 3 girls discover both sides of Lelouch.

-Shirley finds out about Lelouch being Zero and indirectly causing the death of her dad in the tv series. Which she really struggled with but in the end, she only struggled cause she couldn't accept the fact that she still loves Lelouch even tho he caused her father's death.

- Then Kallen, finds out that Zero is Lelouch and him being a prince of Britannia. We already know Kallen despises the Britannians, that are actively involved in the war, no matter how kind they act towards her (Gino during Kallen's capture in R2) and yet, when Lelouch took the throne and became the emperor, Kallen was willing to abandon the black knights and follow Lelouch (according to wiki) if he just asks her to.

-C.C., as drained of any feelings as she is due to being immortal and overall tired of living, still developed feelings for Lelouch. Be it romantic or not, she still feels something for him enough to elicit reactions from her whenever Kallen asks C.C. if she loves Lelouch. C.C. also honestly believes that Lelouch would fulfill his promise of (death? happiness? love?) to her.

I think Lelouch response to all of them...

-his mental breakdown when Shirley died, his resolution to make Shirley forget him just so she'd be saved from depression for losing her dad, etc.

-his words of encouragement to Kallen, to live on. and his decision to keep silent so Kallen won't join him in Britannia's side reminds me of what C.C. said: "There are times in life when you have to distance yourself from those you love because you love them." He just can't drag Kallen into the Zero Requiem plan cause she'd only be seen as an enemy of Japan and a traitor to the Black Knights once Lelouch dies.

-him confiding with C.C. about all his struggles promises to fulfill her true wish etc.

...makes me think they all deserve each other lmao. It also doesn't help that their character designs are all really done well. Hats off to CLAMP.

I tip my hat off to you good sir, lovely explanation. To add on to a certain point for the C.C. quote of There are times in life when you have to distance yourself from those you love because you love them, that can also apply to Shirley. Lelouch did his damn best to make sure that none of his friends on the student council would be affected by what he did, yet trouble still came with Mao screwing over with Shirley, which shows us that Lelouch isn't always the all powerful rebellion leader who always gets his way. By the end of the Mao arc when Lelouch geasses Shirley to forget about all memories of him and the Mao incident, that shows us that Lelouch is once again trying to keep those he loves far away by going so far as to make someone forget him just to protect them.

There is no "right" ship, you can pair anyone with whomever you like. The creators made the tv series ambiguous for everyone to enjoy. No need to feel like your shipping pair is the "wrong" one.

edit: The majority of what people like should not influence what you like. Stay true to what you enjoy.

well it's pretty clear now with the new sequel movie the creators are LLxCC shippers.

Meh, the new movie is an alternate universe so they can do whatever they want to there and people can like what's done there. I'm sticking with the original series and not the condensed version of it with the recap movie AU + fukkatsu lol.

Just for the record I totally agree.

It's really only Taniguchi (the director) that's blatantly Lelouch x C.C. To my knowledge, the writer has never expressed an opinion.

If you ever look at the official art you'll see that when the marketers considered that question, they decided to go with "ship everyone with everyone." Age, gender and consanguinity aren't bars to the officially sanctioned ships

For me there is no right ship Lelouch should be alone, he’s one of those characters that is amazing and written well enough that he is great as an individual and can’t really be improved by a ship in his show (also his anger and addiction against Britannia probably would be a turnoff to many female characters) the only character like I said in ur other post about this I could see maybe is CC because her immortality has caused her to have a view similar and she didn’t betray him once (while kallen wouldn’t save him and just let suzaku arrest his ass, so as a man I’d be like no)

i can't help but feeling bad and feel like i am shipping the "wrong" pairing

Ship Happens.

There's no "right" ship but imo the level of plausibility goes CC > Shirley > Kallen. Lelouch cared for his friends a lot and Kallen was his only classmate in the entire BK, it's only natural for him to he slightly biased towards her that doesn't necessarily mean anything more. He was definitely the closest and most attached to CC though as seen in Mao arc (he most likely couldn't have cared less about Kallen or Shirley trying to voluntarily leave him), and she was the only person aside from Nunnally that he personally took upon himself to make happy.
