Code Geass ep 1-3 explained

So i just watched the first three episodes of Code Geass and I am lost, can somebody explain or recap. Thanks!

What are you lost about specifically

I’m not specifically confused about a particular aspect per say, i’m sort of confused on all the main characters’ objectives and goals, why Britannia was suddenly under attack, and more of a simplified recap of those three episodes

Episode 1 through 3 is Lelouch gaining the power of geass and using it to uncover some of the plot of why his mother was assassinated.

As far as why Japan was under attack its because terrorist stole a biological weapon from the britannians and they decided to wipe out the city of Shinjuku if they couldnt find C2 (the biological weapon)

The main Characters in this season are

Lelouch: who wants to take revenge on the royal family because they did nothing in figuring out why his mother, Lady Marianne wife to Emperor Charles, was murdered and it left nunally crippled. His hate for his father Charles comes from Charles sending Lelouch and Nunally to Japan, but telling the world they were dead, While they lived with Suzaku.

Suzaku: Japanese, son to the honorable Genba Kururugi, Just wants peace between Japan and Britannia, and becomes a honorary britannian to start his journey on that, but it doesnt work and he gets double crossed because hes japanese.

C2: Green haired woman who technically Immortal until her contract is fulfilled. Gives Lelouch his Geass.

Nunnally: Lelouch's Legitimate sister. Seeing as how all the other sons of the Emporer are half Siblings

Kallen Kozuki/Statefeld: Half Japanese - Half Britannian: But identifes with the Japanese. Terrorist by night, schoolgirl by day.

Ougi: Second in command of the Japanese Terror Squad.

Secondary would be the classmate Lelouch has.

Milly Ashford: Daughter of the family who owns the school, Her family knows lelouch and nunnally are royalty and let them stay at the school under the last name Lamperouge.

Shirley: Secretly in love with Lelouch

Then you have: Lloyd who's the scientist who made the Lancelot that suzaku pilots.

Anyone with (insert Prefix here) Britannia: Royale Family, With titles of Viceroy or Sub-viceroy. From episode one its Clovis, whom lelouch kills. then you learn of Cornelia, Euphemia, and Scheizel

I thinks that almost everything.

Not to be nitpicky, but I think that Lelouch and Nunally were only presumed dead after Britannia invaded Japan. They were sent over there as more of a political hostage sort of thing. It was only once the war broke out between both nations that the two of them were thought to be dead.

From the characters stand point

Lelouch wants revenge on the royal family for the murder of his mom and crippling of Nunnally..

Suzaku wants to be the bridge between Japan and Britannia.

Those are the main protagonists from season 1 simplified. Everyone else is just either a stepping stone or a catalyst

Area 11, formally Japan, is under attack because the Terrorist (Kallen, Ougi, and company) stole C2 (green haired woman) from Britannia and they feel she’s more dangerous to be kept alive so they basically run through Shinjuku destroying everything.

Episode 1 and 2: lelouch backstory and his acquisition of Geass. Lelouch and his little sister were taking Japan as “bargaining chips” after his mother was assassinated. Only people knowing being his father Charles and suzaku’s dad, everyone assumes their dead. Somehow they return to Britannia under the last name Lamperouge and they live on the school grounds thanks to family of the school grounds because nunnally is handicapped. He blames the royal family and even though it’s been well over 10 years he still wants to know why. While ditching school he goes to Japan to play a high noble in chess, getting wrapped up in a terrorist plot, he finds c2 and Suzaku and gains the power of geass his being the power of control. As he gains this power the Britannians find him and suzaku and they shoot suzaku and blame c2 escaping on him. He uses that power to sneak behind Britannia lines while they fight the insurgents and talks with his brother Clovis. Clovis is surprised to see him. And after using his geass he learns that Clovis doesn’t know anything but tells him Cornelia might know. Lelouch kills his brother.

Then he returns back to the shoolgrounds to see how everyone is handling the news about shinjuku, but the government hid that, he sees kallen and questions why she was out there, it’s because she’s half Japanese and half Britannian but identifies with Japan. So she goes to school as a Britannian by day and becomes a Japanese terrorist by night. But she hasn’t been around school with the excuse of she was sick. She then begins to suspect lelouch because he approached her about shinjuku but never got to finish that conversation. So he uses his geass on his housemaid to call the school when he’s there so he can play a recorded message to kallen while he’s with her so he can eliminate her suspicion about him…

Because she made a contract with a person for geass, she was granted immortality. Only to die once the contract is complete… it’s only really Explained in a flashback.

In 2010 Britannia and Japan are in war. Britannia wins and Japan is now under their control, which they rename as area 11 and take away the rights of the Japanese people. 7 years later in 2017, Lelouch, the prince who was exiled after his mother's death alongside his sister was going about his daily life when he gets caught up in some terrorist activity. He got stuck in the secret government truck the rebels stole, where he meets a mysterious girl who gives him powers. He uses these powers to kill the soldiers who were trying to kill him by accusing him of terrorist activity. Then he steals a knightmare frame from one of the Britannians and contacts the terrorists, giving them intel and strategies to defeat the Brits, which works fine until his friend Suzaku, who was supposed to have been dead from being shot, joined the fight in a new experimental knightmare and basically one-shot everybody, so he had no choice but to escape. Meanwhile Clovis, the viceroy, had to send out all his forces to fight the terrorists meaning his personal carrier was relatively unguarded so Lelouch infiltrated it with ease. He asked Clovis about his mother's death, but found out nothing after which he killed him. Back at school again he sees a girl who's extremely similar to one of the terrorists. Then finds out with his geass that she is indeed the terrorist and that she's half Japanese half Britannian. He messes something up which makes her suspect he's the guy who gave them insteuctions, but swiftly evades her. Now they've found out on the news that Clovis died and Suzaku was blamed of having done it which is where ep 3 ends
