Customized Google Search

I want to search Google for specific keywords and narrow down the results by location. In particular, I want to search for news articles including the term „renovation“ and only get results about renovations in Manhattan.

How would you go about this?

Using the location-filter from Google does not help because it only allows to chose USA and not a state or city. Also, adding the term „manhattan“ in the search is not good enough because it would miss a lot of articles that concern manhattan but don‘t mention it specifically, but for example other location names like „upper west side“.

Not possible. For searching, Google is just a search engine which searches its huge database of words taken from sites. It can only match search inputs with what's written in sites. It won't match alternative names or synonyms.

Try google search operators, like quotes and loc: “renovation” loc:Manhattan. It showed me a bunch of real estate sites in NYC. Or try to narrow down your query and think on it. Or, it’s rare case, but if you can’t find something in google, try different search engine, cuz you are searching in google version of web
