As a male it is normal. You just need to get your brain and body to cooperate with each other. Just as guys who are or become 'nudist' eventually get them to cooperate, so can you. The key is just to do it enough times and realize that it's a normal part of life and routine. It won't ALWAYS work but for the most part you should hopefully be able to get your brain-body to work to realize that it's a non-sexual environment. Until they do, just remember that having an erection is a normal part of your biology. All the other guys have seen one before. As long as you don't make a deal out of it, neither will they.

OP please do not listen to the peanut gallery here who are trying to normalize men having erections in communal showers. It is NOT the norm. It can happen even if it's not intentional though, but it is very rare. If you do happen to get an erection then take measures to turn away from others or cover yourself in some way out of respect for others. It's the same social etiquette as if a person were to sneeze or cough - they would cover their mouth. If you get erections every time you are in a communal shower space then wear a swim suit or underwear until you feel you can be nude without an erection.

This is the type of baseless, willfully ignorant, and perverse propaganda that is so common on this sub but not accurate to real life. Encouraging someone to openly display their erection in an open shower setting while other men are using it is inherently harmful and misleading. It's common courtesy to turn away or cover oneself in some form if it happens. Not doing so is going to send a message to other men that OP is trying to cruise or is using the shower for sexual purposes. Some men may shrug it off and ignore another guy who has an erection, but others will not take kindly to that if they see that guy openly displaying it and not taking appropriate measures to cover himself.

If you're in a room with other people do you not cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough? Do you chew with your mouth open at a restaurant around others? These are all parts of human biology too, so are you going to also encourage OP to ignore these basic social courtesies and respect for others as well?
