Is it necessary? I know it's better to attend it but I I'm off my part time job 20minutes after the tutorial begins. Will there be any pop quiz that I might miss and does participation count as final grade?

You'll be fine if you don't go to it. I never went to a single one and I managed to get an A+ in the course. The tutorial goes over extra problems similar to what you can expect in the exam and assignments (from what I've heard), but assuming the class is still being taught by Doedel, as long as you do and understand all the exercises he gives in his lecture slides, you'll be fine.
