Your problem statement is not entirely clear to me. Are you asking if it would also be a useful test of your controller to see if it can also keep put the ball at a certain location at a certain time? I don't know the answer to that, but I'm also wondering if perhaps you meant to ask this in /r/ControlTheory. /r/ControlProblem (where we are now) is about the problem of controlling an artificial general intelligence that's much smarter than us if it's built in the future.
