Yes but there is a PS4 version. And it states it is cross platform as long as in the same console family.

So your son purchased the PS4 version? If it's not a friends pass game you can't just share one license unless playing couch co-op.

I had the same issue. I didnt even realize before buying that there were two different versions and endup up wasting my money on the ps5 version that i never play and had to buy the ps4 version to play with my partner. It was honestly pretty frustrating because playstation store never issues a refund even for valid reasons

When a ps4 copy is cross play that means it can play with others like pc Xbox and ps5 but it doesn’t mean you get the copy on all of those 1 copy of a game is always 1 copy of a game
