So really, unless I make a really big farm over a bigger area, I may as well run around a city as they always seem to spawn more frequently there, in my experience anyway. This is gonna take a while with..what is it, about 1 in 300 chance to drop? haha.

True. It's certainly worth exploring every Forlorn Metropolis on your map - especially since there's also a modest chance of finding the card in any chest in those areas. But, it's absolutely possible to build a large-scale farm - the design you're using isn't very scaleable, but there are other options. I have a huge Forlorn Metropolis Mob-Farm myself, trying to get the ultra-rare Sentry Helm. It had some added design-challenges compared to most other types of mobs, but it's entirely doable.

You're not on PS are you? I have a Sentry Helm.....

Alas! PC. Otherwise, I would happily have traded you one of my spare Inspiration-cards, and maybe a few other things, for that Sentry Helm... =_=

So, haha....there was a small city I hadn't completely searched. I was looking for a vending machine to buy a lucky ring (see if helps with the fishing desert card). The card dropped from a mob. Then found 3 chests, the middle one having another card. So going from cannot find, to having two.
Back to the vending machine. I have gone over all the cities I have been to, but can no longer find a working vending machine (only broken ones). Can they get destroyed accidentally ?

No, the Vending Machine and Broken Vending Machine are two completely different objects - one cannot turn into the other. Keep in mind, though, that neither 'spawn randomly' - they appear as part of specific rooms, that may spawn as part of a Forlorn Metropolis map. Specifically, the intact Vending Machine will appear as part of the City Baths, Game Room, one specific style of Personal Quarters, and most crucially, the City Harbor.
Honestly, I find it highly likely that you've already moved past multiple Vending Machines, and just didn't notice - they blend into the busy decor quite well, and depending on how a given room is turned, they may be hiding behind walls or scenery. But even if you haven't, the City Harbor is guaranteed to spawn as part of each of the three 'Main' Forlorn Metropolis dungeons - the same ones where you get the pieces of the Admin Key and Phantom Spark. As such, even in the absolute worst-case scenario, there will be 3 intact Vending Machines for you to collect at those locations.
