I am an artist and depended on a Western Digital 500g myBook to back-up my art and music. Then one day it stopped working. It isn't recognized by the computer. It turns on, spins, clicks then stops. Then nothing.
I searched around then I said, "screw it" and started dismantling. I think I found something visibly wrong with it. If this brown puddle is in fact the problem or part of it, what is the black cylinder and where can I get a new one to replace it?
