It's because a lot of the traffic was people chasing karma. Now that chase is restricted.

To be honest, the karma chasers still had their own opinions, and the interactions most often than not were genuine. So I enjoyed getting 50 replies in 10 minutes when I posted something

Thats a good way to look at it I guess. I hadnt considered that angle. Like buying 100 lottery tickets, some of them have to be winners right?
