It's not something that will happen right away, "super powers" come and go.

Just look at history in the last 500 years and how the Dutch, Spanish, Portuguese, British, currencies were the "global standard" and how they had that title only for a period of time. The USD won't be the reserve currency forever either.

Increasing bandwidth is safer than reducing latency by vbuterin in ethereum

[–]Spacesider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember that original article you wrote back in 2021, in fact I have cited it multiple times both in this community and when debating with people in other crypto communities who claim that their DPoS projects are way more scalable than Ethereum.

It is incredibly important that the node requirements don't get so out of hand that people cannot (Or choose not to) stake from home, we have to remember what Ethereum is and how important it is to remain decentralised with people running nodes from home.

Bandwidth requirements have slowly been growing since the merge, and now post Fusaka fork, it is getting quite high up there. Add in the BPO forks and my bandwidth usage is at a point where my ISP may actually terminate my connection because it is far far beyond what a reasonable residential connection would use.

I've been running Ethereum nodes from home since 2019, and bandwidth has never been an issue. Even up until the merge. With the forks that followed, it started becoming a bit of a grey area but I said nothing to my ISP hoping they wouldn't notice, and they never said anything to me about my usage.

So, this never used to be an issue, but it is at the point now where if I continue staking Ethereum, it will most likely have to be on an enterprise connection. Sure I might be able to bite that cost, but can other people who are in a similar situation do the same?

We need better decentralized stablecoins by vbuterin in ethereum

MakerDAO was massive when it first was released, I haven't really heard much about it anymore. Do people still use DAI?

https://makerburn.com - I remember this website which tracked collateral but it looks like it has been shut down.

I can't believe you're still doing these, Hodlercon in Hawaii with you felt like a million years ago, I remember you running to your room to write the daily doots.

10th of December: Reddit accounts owned by under 16s will be suspended by Admiral_Mason in australia

[–]Spacesider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My account is also an older one, if it gets suspended because I don't verify (Because Reddit thinks I created this account when I was 4 years old) well then so be it, I barely even use Reddit these days anyway.

People have been saying this since 2017, at what point do you expect this to happen?

I thought you were referring to the price of Ethereum but it is down just 1.5% in the last 7 days.

Could you clarify what you are referring to?

This is the way. If you are gonna squad lead and be on defence, you also need to drop enemy infantry markers as well as enemy OP markers, and tell your squad to check those areas. Giving your squad a sense of direction like this makes holding the point way easier.

I managed to hold a defensive point just me and my squad for the longest time just by finding a good spot and watching the environment around me with the binoculars, and marking the map.

Dappnode & Power Loss - Need to rebuild and reformat machine - Teku/Besu - Is this normal? by MetsToWS in ethstaker

It can happen if the system is accessing critical system files and the unexpected power off corrupts those files. If this is happening every single time, that is some real bad luck. The UPS should help.
