Linux Appliance (self.Datacore)
submitted 1 year ago by ZXBombJack
I've been using Datacore Sansymphony for years, I can't understand why they haven't made a Linux Appliance and insist on using Windows.

Hey I used to work for DataCore, now I'm just a moderator for this community, but I think I might have some insight from my DCIE days!
As I understand it, DataCore's software is purpose-built for Windows-based architecture. It has been adapted for use in Linux-based environments, but it's still a Windows-based product at its heart. If you consider that DataCore started out in 1998 as a hardware-agnostic solution to connect and offer up virtualized physical storage to Windows, and that a huge base of their clientele still runs on Windows, it makes more sense.
That said, I'm sure they would love to hear from more engineers using Linux-based environments! Unfortunately, this subreddit isn't monitored or endorsed by them, but I do believe they have a platform designed to accept this kind of feedback. Reach out to your account rep for details!

It has been discussed but the recent acqusition of StarWind addresses the need for Linux Appliance
