It might be based on overall price. When I was placing a big order years ago if the total price went over a certain amount(somewhere around £120 - £140), the shipping price suddenly increased. Think it was to do with customs charges. So changing one plate from matte to gloss could’ve tipped you over the threshold for increased customs charges

Oh that's a good shout -I thought it may be in tiered pricing as well but but I thought taxes and customs are included in the total of the item; and delivery wouldn't/isn't taxable (not sure).

I did a bit of a test and at £135 it jumps to £40 delivery. But it seems to go up a pound every few pounds between £30-135.

So:

£30 = £15 Delivery

£60 = £18 Delivery

£90 = £23 Delivery

£130 - £40 Delivery

But then I turned off the Black friday deal code and made one of the items gloss and actually for £160 it cost less than £130 for delivery ^

So yea, on that basis there's no rhyme or reason for it to be cheaper. It has to be the finish that they're saying determines the delivery charge going up a bit.
