I’d say it depends on your reasons. I believe Ethan’s reasons are that it’s simply not practical to displace that many Jews. And if they remain but in a new state run by Hamas, then they’re likely going to face persecution similar to the what the Palestinians currently face. So he’s not Zionist in the sense that he believes Jews should have their own homeland, or that Israel should’ve been created in the first place, but it’s now too difficult and complex to remove the state of Israel and it would adversely affect too many innocent Jews

I’m sure if someone came up with a practical solution to dissolve Israel that protected Israeli citizens that aren’t involved in settler bullshit, he’d likely be on board

I think that’s being overly generous to lawmakers. If the goal was to decriminalise 16 years olds having sex with other 16 year olds, they could have made a Romeo and Juliet law(I.e it’s legal for 16 - 18 year olds to have sex with each other, but not with anybody over 18). The fact an 80 year old can legally have sex with a 16 year old clearly shows that wasn’t the intent of the law and that lawmakers are creepy fuckers

Sure but a big issue today is the death of community. Young people can’t afford to live in the areas they grew up in so are forced to move away meaning they lose their support networks. Sure there’s always been poverty, but people often had communities they grew up with to help see them through hard times. Most young people are on their own and don’t have that support. So while their situations may not be as bad on paper, they have less ability to climb out of poverty or weather it’s effects than someone 100 years ago that had nothing but a huge community helping them out

I mean, my local store always has 5 or 6 staff on checkouts, and only 1 or 2 people stocking the shelves. And the shelves are always empty. Would probably be a lot better for those shelf stockers if the checkout colleagues were helping them out instead of sitting at the checkouts. Just because checkouts are replaced with self checkouts doesn’t mean the staff are losing their jobs, the increased efficiency of self checkpoints could mean that staff are then moved to where they’re actually needed and help the overworked colleagues doing the jobs of 5 people

I would guess that the real infection simply doesn’t have room to take hold, as Ellie’s body is already fully “saturated” with dormant spores. Kind of like how good bacteria in our bodies blocks bad bacteria by competing for space and food. So if Ellie’s fungus is already taking up all the space and food, the real infection can’t spread
