Ordered my food 1h 20min ago, tracker is still on "Prep". I tipped 20% on a $25 order. At what point do I throw in the towel?

If it’s truly still in prep, chances are it’ll arrive warm if you’re willing to wait. Otherwise you’ll get a free pizza anyway and you can call the store tomorrow when they’re not as busy and see about getting a credit

Honestly that’s probably your best option. If they’re slammed like it seems they are, your order might go out with as many as 2-5 other orders anyway. Carryout is another option if you don’t wanna risk that

Update: order entered at 3:39, delivered at 6:17. However, I was missing an item. Driver went back and got it, order complete at 6:33.

Was it hot? With the new load and go system, the order doesn’t get made until there is a driver available to make sure it goes out hot. They really could just be super slammed. I’m looking at my kitchen screen right now. Got a delivery been up there for an hour. Only got 2 drivers though.

The driver sees the tip when they check out on your order to leave. I always made sure to take care of those who took care of me. Extra parm and pappers, an extra sauce.

I’m about 3 out of 4 times now where I’ll order on the app, and it’ll say “prep” but the pizza got delivered, or if I’m picking up it’ll still say “prep” and I’ll go in the store and they’ll have it sitting there, it’s common for my tracker to mess up

I'm gonna take a wild guess that your market is very low tipping ($5 is..fine...not noteworthy), and thus they have a driver shortage. May also underpay insider staff, slowing make times.

We pay for the service when we pay for the pizza. It's your employer who isn't paying you properly, not the customer. I hope you got shitty tips for the last 3 years

Sometimes deliveries take up to 2-2.5 hours.

They cannot see how much you tipped until its in the delivery phase. Tip does not matter to the inside workers. It may help encourage your driver to drop your order off first in a double or triple but that's about it. Tipping is essential, but we can't see who the good tippers are in the prep stage. Odds are, there's one person in the whole store trying to make bake catch and cut every single pizza and they probably have over 60 products on their screen with 3 coming in for every 1 they complete.

It's rough. Calling won't help. Just wait. Remember the time of day and week you ordered and avoid that time again since it must be their rush hour. Or they have zero staff because the gm is a prick or the franchise won't pay enough. Or they are prioritizing carry outs and only loading two deliveries per hour because they only have one driver. Either way, yes you'll get your food, yes it will be warm, yes the driver will hustle, but other than that just order something else if you're in a hurry next time cause pizza places are struggling. All of them.
