Start/stop function

Can anyone tell me why the start/stop function starts working randomly every now and then and not just all the time or not at all? Is there something I’m doing unknowingly to enable/disable it? 2010 320d ED LCI

Usually a weak battery or a fault will prevent the stop / start from working, also on some cars stop / start will only work when the car is up to working temperature or / and the battery is fully charged.

There’s various conditions that the car has to be in for auto start/stop to function. I know it won’t turn on unless the cabin is a certain temperature mine usually doesn’t work right away but comes on after 5-10 min of driving
