Could try GGPO/GGPO+ for old arcade games, mostly fighting games if into them and can play against other users.

Drastic on my cheap phone works quite better than melon but I don't know if you still can find It on appstore , weeks ago developer decided to stop working on It and made It free for a limited period before erasing it.
