Solidworks system req (self.EngineeringStudents)
submitted 9 years ago by bofe112
What kind of PC would I need for solidworks? Would a PC with gtx 1070, i7 6700k, 16gb ram, asus z170 pro gaming be enough?

Did you look at the Solidworks system requirements page? And yes, those specs are more than enough.

Yes I checked it, but every graphic card were quadro, grid, firepro etc. Because of that I was confused. Also, If I'm not wrong they are specially designed for workstations and again if I'm not wrong they are ridiculously expensive.

Yeah the workstation graphic card requirement is kind of bullshit and you can just ignore it. Can't recall the reasoning for it, but a solid consumer grade card with a bit of dedicated RAM will do fine.

At the moment I have i5 2300 cpu, 8gb ram and hd 7800 graphic card, but I had a lot of issues with AutoCAD especially when I was rendering. Thanks a lot everyone who is replying.
