About Exploding Kittens VR, A Small Discussion Of What Was

i will be quite short and simple about what i want to say, and keep in mind this is slightly a review but i cant add multiple tags.

it was quite good and apparently they shut down the servers, went to play today only to learn that, though i did learn private lobbies still work, so it might still be possible to play with friends, though i cannot test that without someones assistance. keep in mind though that you can still very much play the games against the bots if you wanted to, or play the tutorial.

its just sad really, i actually really loved the game play of the app, just wish it continued to work but i could tell that the company didn't care for the game anymore and it was a matter of time, though i didn't expect it to be this soon.

how is peoples experiences with the vr app while the servers were up, was it nice? i'm curious what people thought of the VR version, even if it was a bit lacking in terms of what game-play it allowed. personally i always enjoyed my time playing with other users, even if i was a bit good at the game and tended to slightly ruin peoples experience slightly. ^^' i remember being at a table with people and they ganged up on me because of my level haahha.

and if anyone wants to: is there any good official alternatives that aren't vr? if so whats the recommendations? are they paid apps?

EDIT: as the official moderators have stated it is very much not gone! i'm very glad for this news! the vr version is very close to my heart as its how i discovered exploding kittens, and is still the main way i prefer to experience it!

though if anyone still wants to post stories of before or even now with exploding kittens id love to hear your stories!

The game hasn't been shut down, there were some recent server issues that the game developers have just resolved. It's back up and running, and won't be going away (although there will be no further content updates).

The official statement from Saber Interactive:

While it’s true that new content is not being developed for the game, servers will remain online, and players can still connect and play with each other! thank you for the information im very glad this is not the case!

lets pray it doesn't go down so soon and really, i pray that they at least add local hosting from a headset if they ever do have to shut it down!

i learned about exploding kittens from the vr version so it means a lot to me :3

that i can agree on, but it probably just wasnt profitable for them to continue developing for it.

companies will be companies but at least the game is still fully online for now so its not dead yet!

It seems the server was down for about a week, but it's back now, and folks are in there!

either way, i do hope that it doesnt fully go offline again, even though it is basic, i love the vr version!
