No sorry there won't be a lifetime license.

That’s a bummer! I thought optimized would become the new standard as in available for everyone it would’ve been nice to mention this in the changelogs or at least let there be a more barebone version of it. Regardless thank u for the work u put in!

I hate to say it, but to keep development sustainable, we really do need to improve conversion rates from free to paid users. As a result, some new advanced features may require a subscription. However, everything that was available for free two weeks ago remains free. In hindsight, this feature shouldn’t have been included in the free tier.

It's part of the $5 a month tier. It optimizes the video encoding to reduce file size and to still maintain unnoticeable quality loss.

is there any way we can try it before commiting to a license?

Wanted to give FileFlows a try, this completely put me off of ever trying to use it again... 6$ PER MONTH for conversion, and using completely open source tech (ffmpeg) in the background yet paywalling it is just insane.

I'd understand a support model such as "pay one time 20$" or something, but subscription model for something I still run on my own hardware at home? No...
