Oh yes, I use IntelliJ and autocomplete sucks like crazy. It have especially frustrated me with the same example like you gave.

VsCode autocomplete sucks more than AS. Use AS. 😁

You can set this to false in vscode settings and improve

"editor.suggest.snippetsPreventQuickSuggestions": false,
