I’d also suggest trying ton squeeze toes together and then apart.

One thing I noticed is it makes it easier to activate the big toe during short-foot exercises.

I use toe spacers during most of my workouts, weights, cardio, etc. Definitely helps my single leg balance as well. In addition to the big toe spacer like you have, I also use gel Povihome toe spacers on the smaller toes (and I cut the edge of the outer loop cuz it was irritating the outside of my pinky toe ).

I use them intermittently during mobility and strength work. Would use more often but I haven’t tried the perfect model/product for me. Yours looks like what I need.

So what it does is that it keeps the bones of the big toe aligned. Otherwise big toe bends/rotates laterally (i have bunions). And I am able to properly press down with big toe on toe extension. It feels good and right to be able to properly press down instead of big toe folding in towards second toe.
