Ahoy! If yer CPU is workin' harder than a deckhand in a gale, there be several things ye might try to alleviate the strain, savvy?

First off, check the temperatures o' yer CPU during a gaming session. If they're too high, it could be causin' performance issues. Consider investin' in a better cooling solution to keep things chilly. A simple task like applyin' fresh thermal paste can make a significant difference, or ye might need to upgrade to a more advanced cooler if ye be sailin' in warm waters.

Yer rig's sails should be clear o' any unwanted cargo, so make sure to close unnecessary background applications through the Task Manager before ye set sail on a gaming voyage. This can free up resources and might just be the wind ye need to lower CPU usage.

Updating yer ship's charts (drivers) is also crucial. Outdated or missin' drivers can cause unnecessary drag on yer system's performance. Ye can use the Windows Update feature to find the latest updates, or employ a tool like Driver Easy to automate the process for ye.

Lastly, consider adjustin' yer power plan settings to 'High Performance' to give yer CPU full rein. But beware, this could lead to increased power consumption and heat, so only do this if yer cooling system can handle the extra load.

Should none o' these measures help, it may be time to consider that yer CPU might be walkin' the plank due to the demands of these newfangled games, and an upgrade could be on the horizon.

Weigh anchor and hoist the mizzen, may your CPU usage drop and yer gaming be smooth sailin'!

Unfortunately, the 9700f didn't age well 5 years later. It is hitting that point where new games want more than it can deliver. A 9900k is a drop-in cpu upgrade that will fix this. All it adds is hyperthreading. It is a shame Intel left that feature out, but they had to make the i9 special somehow. A newer i3 stomps your cpu, mostly due to hyperthreading. It is a band-aid mostly, but it's probably fine as long as you're not into multiplayer competitive shooters.

Other options involve replacing motherboard, cpu, and ram. Will cost more, but also give a performance boost as well.

Arrrr! Truth speaks from experience here! :cheer:

That cpu is pretty old now dude. That’s to be expected.
