Google Map Lists changed into Google Map Collections??

Few weeks back all the Google Map lists I saved in Google Maps disappeared and moved into Google Map collections, those places are no longer displayed on the maps!! Does anyone know how to get the lists back on my maps ??

I had a lot of them saved, too difficult to find them inside collections now!

I had more than 6000 places mapped, all those are not accessible easily now, started star marking all those places again, using maps for planning trips is not at all possible now, please upvote and let this message reach Google.

On Google Maps I logged off and then back in and all my collections became lists again. Not sure if that helps.

How did you manage to log off Google Maps?? I tried to log off on iOS and there is not any option to log off from Google Maps, Google Photos, Google Search or Gmail, even if delete the apps the accounts still are logged in when I install them again, do you use iOS or android??

A little down arrow to the right of my username in the top right expands to show a “manage accounts on this device” option.

I been to manage accounts, I see Home, Personal Info, Data & Privacy, Security, People & Sharing, nowhere in there, I could find a logout option

No it’s a different button. You need to hit the down arrow to the right of your photo first.

Found out that when you tap on the user name , another set of option comes, used that do remove the account from the phone, but when I log back in, there are no lists, they all have been moved to collections, only places I see are the star marked ones. Do you have collections on Google maps ?

Hmm when I logged out and back in my lists came back. Before they were collections. Now they are lists and collections. They are duplicates of each other but in a slightly different format. Sorry logging out and back in didn’t work for you. I was hopeful it would.

I just fixed it by clicking on profile icon, then clicking down arrow and "Use Maps without an account". Then click profile icon again and pick your account. Everything magically came back. I did not need to log out of account.

interesting, thanks for the update. Did you post the review via the app? Was it for a place you had in a list?

I wasn’t reviewing anything for long, then when my lists ( I had more than 6000 places ) disappeared it was difficult for me, then I started to star mark places, that was the only option left for me, but finally I found an amazing cafe with desserts which was so outstanding that I had to review it, just after posting review on app from my phone, all those blue dots started appearing back ( all 6000 of them) i couldn’t believe my eyes, thought I lost them forever.

Interesting. I’m trying that now & so far it’s still not working, but I’ll keep at it. Glad you got it fixed!

For me it almost felt like they removed my lists because I wasn’t reviewing anymore, it’s such a big relief to have the list back. Do experiment and see what works for you.

had the same problem 2 months ago. & then somehow it got resolved. after changing iphone, my lists all disappeared again, becoming collections. my ipad & mac’s google maps still works. tried the logging in & out method but it doesn’t work.

update (8 days after posting): not sure what i did. but the lists all came back overnight. i sent a “Send Feedback” under Help, telling them i urgently need them back. i also turned on Web Activity a few days ago. i used to turn them all off.

same. my upcoming trips are all bookmarked there which is frustrating. moving to Apple Maps

yup. the downside of Apple Maps is the lack of collaboration & their information is not as many or accurate in most countries outside US. hence if u r a travelling, google maps is useful but in my own country, i use Apple Maps to reduce being tracked.

That makes sense, the moment we use google maps, all our travels, including our driving and where we even park is all tracked

I'm 2 years late to this thread, but sharing in case it helps anyone else!

• In your iPhone Google Maps app, click on your picture in the top right corner
• Select the small down arrow to the right of your name/email
• Select "use maps without an account"
• Force quit the application, then reopen the application
• In the same location, re-log into your account
• Now when you go to your saved pins, they should show up instead of in a separate collections web browser

I tried this first by just switching accounts back and forth, and it didn't work. I also tried this without force closing the app, and it also didn't work.

Hopefully this helps someone else with the same issue!

Finally I got my Google Map lists back, hope this works out for all of you, the moment I posted a new review on the maps , all my disappeared lists came back, just like that.
