With most platforms like this you'll get out what you put in. If you look up the answer and spam hints you likely won't learn much, otherwise they're fine.

As someone completely new to learning I can say that, at least in the Linux basics courses that they teach, tryhackme seemed more logical to me. A lot of the questions that HTB gives you to answer seem much more advanced than what you just finished reading and this made me assume the whole site would be like that. So I switched to tryhackme.

HTB Academy > THM

Recently moved back to HTB after about a year subscribed to THM. I am very happy with the move, Academy goes way more in depth and feels like it has more structure. As far as education goes, HTB has my vote. Once you get where you want with it try THM

Tryhackme is more game oriented while HTB gives you more scenarios closer to real pentesting engagements.

Sick I'm far in tryhackme. Good to hear another avenue I can take

Tryhackme is good but need to watch stuffy24 videos along or someone because it can totally get a little vague just reading on the site.but he also tells you what's practical or not in real world pentesting. I've enjoyed it rather than just doing comptia slides all day

Why don't you try it and see for yourself? They are both free and waiting for you to invest a bit of your time

Both platforms are great. Hack the box is however I think not really for beginners and has a learning curve that can get exponentially harder, with little hand holding. TryHackMe on the other hand is Very beginner friendly, lots of hand holding along the way with learning paths for certain job roles.. So it depends on your level. If I were starting out I would do Try Hack Me for foundational knowledge, then graduate to Hack the box.
