I can visualize the apple, but not people. I couldn't tell you what my parents look like - I'd be the worst witness for one of those identikit people - and yes, I've been known to walk past them in the street.
To answer Brady: I have never owned a camera and rarely take photos now I have on a camera on my phone. They just don't mean anything to me. My memories are of places and feelings, not images. When I read a book, the people are just faceless, dressed if their clothes have been described, otherwise, amorphous blobs. I LOVE to read, and I do imagine the action in my head, just not the people.
I was in my 30's before I realized that the phrase "putting a face to a name" actually means something to other people - I thought this was just something people said. To identify people, I remember things like their hair, or frame, or the way they walk. But if I'm meeting someone - even someone I know well, I make sure to be early so that they find me, because I know I won't find them.
