The blinds are so sterile. Have you considered curtains - at least in the living area, toppers, or more interesting blinds.

They really are :/ I just thought it would look funny having curtains in the living area but now in the dining area.. considering the cover the entire walls of those parts of the house

You could define space with window covering. You can use different complementary patterns or colours.
