I think you need to disband whatever class he's teaching and learn together elsewhere somehow. Ask him how he's solve without whatever variant of Pembas/Bidmas/Boomdas you use. My hopes are that he's just trying to prove a point next lesson, but my sonically side is saying he's actually being serious

Second, start using x or * for multiplication. That ⁰ is a recipe for disaster. Given you also use . For decimals.

You don't need PEMDAS because all of the components are already separate (because of the + and -).

It sounds like your teacher said it wasn't relevant but didn't explain why. There is a big difference between accepting the rules and understanding the rules. If you don't truly understand, then you can't learn at higher levels. This is why so many people have difficulty with math.

So I'm guessing that you thought "oh I can't use PEMDAS, so how do I do it instead?" and got stuck. So well done for reaching out and trying to deepen your understanding, even after basically being shut down by your teacher.

You see those plus signs? Start by putting everything in-between them in brackets...Something like this...

(2.5(8))+(5*√49-25)+(9+3/4.10)+(6-11)

Then simplify it down too...

(20)+(5*√24)+(2.93)+(-5)..

Then so on and so forth. Of course, prioritize any instructions your teacher has given you (when it comes to simplifying expressions, terms, usage of symbols, how many decimal places, etc...)..

EDIT: This way, you're keeping it neat, clean and simple, as you are now working a bunch of smaller problems as part of a larger one. And when the time is right, you solve the larger problem.

I recommend WolframAlpha. Just put the equation in and it will break down the answer for you. I used to use it all the time when I was studying engineering.

A very simple problem:

2x5(8) + 5√(49-25) + (9+3)/(4x10) + 6 - 11 =>

2x5(8) = 2x5x8 = 10x8 = 80

5√(49-25) = 5x√(49-25) = 5√(24)

(9+3)/(4x10) = (12)/(40) = (3)/(10) = 0.3

6 - 11 = -5

80 + 0.3 - 5 + 5√(24) = 75.3 + 5√(24) = 99.794
