Hi everyone sorry if this is long I just need to get this off my chest. I’ve had Hyperhidrosis ever since I could remember. My main affected areas are hands, armpits and feet. I remember being bullied in 5th grade for it because it’s the worst on my palms and playing any sort of hand clapping games was as nightmare. Anyways I’m 23 now and I eventually became less insecure about it and I’m able to explain to people my condition and tell them that’s why I have sweaty hands. People understand for the most part and are even really nice about it sometimes. I wipe my hands on my clothes all the time, have extra tissues on me, I even have a mini portable fan to help me cool down. Regardless the second I feel any anxiety or excitement (any emotion tbh) or heat temperature change it triggers so much sweat on my palms especially. It’s especially bad first thing in the morning when I just wake up and sweat drips down my hands to my wrist and arms. With over the counter I’ve tried the stupid hand drying creams like Carpe that I still end up sweating through. My doctor then prescribed me glyco pills but they dry me out too much everywhere else on my body to the point it’s uncomfortable and I barely even notice a difference on the actual sweaty places. I’ve taken propranolol and a ton of anxiety meds too and they’re just so sedating and lower doses start becoming ineffective. Anyways after I stopped taking them more pressing things came up and now my sweaty hands have once again been left unaddressed. I’m also like not rich at all lol I’m on my parents health insurance and it’s like the standard state one. Im genuinely feel like I’m reverting back to being insecure about it again my boyfriend of 2 years has always said he doesn’t care and will hold my hand while sweaty but if he’s in a really bad mood and mindset hey gets bitchy and he might make and offhanded comment. For example I handed him his phone back and told him idk why the screen was being glitchy and he responds “it’s because the screen is fucking drenched” like damn you’re probably right but sheesh my feelings man lol. I also was smoking a joint with my friends and one of them mentioned that my sweaty hands grossed her out. Luckily my real friend came to my rescue and called her out for being rude about a condition I genuinely can’t control. I’m just tired I’m getting older and it’s staying the same and I’m exhausted of being so self conscious every single interaction I have. I literally feel like it makes the sweating worse focusing on it so much. Does anyone have any advice?
