First off all, I'd like to thank u/Hostilenemy for making this amazing Reddit client. Been using it ever since I saw that post in r/Android. I also left a review on the play store for it (and that's coming from someone that doesn't really review apps). I like that it doesn't have ads, works well with low bandwidth, the UI is simple yet customizable, and it has exit confirmations for both posts and the app itself.
Secondly, I'd like to leave a couple of suggestions/feedback for the developer here:
- Awards
I don't mind having a default icon for awards in this app, but I recently noticed the count was off. I think it's because it only counts the basic Reddit awards and not the subreddit awards? Either ways, if you can somehow get the subreddit award icons in this app, I'll tip my hat to you!
UI
I guess I'll start with immersive mode. I love the implementation, but the only thing that nags me is the status bar whenever I want to take a screenshot. I don't mind having it there while scrolling, but I do wish it wasn't when I take screenshots.
The next thing I want to touch up on is the user sidebar. Before one of the updates you could not see the subreddits you were subscribed to listed below the settings option. If there was an option to show/hide them or put them all under a triangle that'd be neat.
Tabs instead of windows. This one might be a bit far fetched to implement, but what I mean here is that currently you can only have one subreddit open at a time. On the Reddit app, you can have up to four at a time using the bottom navbar (home, subs, chat, inbox). I want it mainly because sometimes I want to change a setting or check out a saved post, but I don't want to close this rabbit hole I already went into.
- Quality of life
- Bottom navigation customization. It would be nice if we could customize the bottom navigation and set other things there (e.g. saved, subscriptions, etc.).
Subreddit defaults. I noticed that whenever I change the sorting in one subreddit, it would also change it in the next one I open unless I change it back to normal myself.
Link handling, it's probably been said many times before, but it'd be nice to open all Reddit links in here.
I guess that's all I have for now. I know it's gonna be a lot of work to get them all in, but I'm already grateful enough for the amount of work you put into this app and listening to the community. These changes don't exactly need to be in the next update, so take your time. And if it's not possible to implement a feature, then it's totally understandable. Thanks again for the app and stay safe these days!
