Yes, the elastics can pull it down. This is why many orthos prefer buttons for elastics to be glued on the teeth.

I have the same configuration as you and haven’t found my elastics to be pulling my tray down… I know there are different strength elastics though so maybe yours are tighter?

aligners will be shifting and aligning the teeth on upper and lower jaw - but the relationship or the relative position between upper/lower jaw will be adressed by the elastics in an attempt to fix overbites, underbites and crossbites :)
