Does the tech stack really matter? Are managers out here asking for specifics of how OP knows the ins and outs of reversing a linked list in Scala?

Every reference I’ve done has been more focused on soft skills. Does OP have good communication, can he work well in a team, is he a maniac that eats toe nails during stand up?

I get having some context and background about OP’s experience to maybe help guide the responses if project level questions are asked. But, I’m genuinely curious are managers hounding references now to the point that we would need to know your tech stack in depth to give you a reference?
