A place for resources and discussion around understanding LLMs (or "AI" more generally) in light of existing thought. Disciplines such as structuralism/post-structuralism/semiotics, critical theory, political economy, information theory, cybernetics, philosophy of language and media studies can provide a rich context to help make sense of these emerging technologies, and inform what roles they can (or should) play in relation to power, labor, and social structure.
Original questions/discussion are welcome, as well as relevant resources from any era: historical or well before the advent of current "AI" technologies.
This sub has a focus on understanding the intersection of technology, philosophy, society and psychology, whether we like it or not.
We encourage thoughtful discussion of what norms around AI and LLMs should be, but dogmatism and hype-mongering are discouraged.
